Your information

Privacy, cookies & community data

This notice describes the services actually enabled on the website, not features planned for a future release.

Publisher and data controller contact

The legal publisher identity is being confirmed by the owner. Public forms and newsletter subscriptions are paused until that identity and a monitored contact are verified.

No public privacy inbox has been verified. The contact page will show the working channel when available.

Browsing, cookies and local preferences

The hosting service processes normal technical request data such as IP addresses, requested URLs and timestamps to deliver and protect the website. Server log retention is controlled by the hosting account and is not presented here as a verified fixed period.

The website does not currently load Google advertising or the former Hostinger visit-measurement script. Those loaders were removed on 4 October 2026 while consent and account configuration are reviewed. No consent is inferred from continuing to browse.

Saved names are a device-local preference in your browser under assyrian-name-shortlist-v2. They are not transmitted to the publisher. Removing a saved name or clearing this website’s browser storage deletes it. There are no visitor accounts or cross-device shortlists. The private editorial dashboard is separate.

Maps and external resources

Interactive maps contact OpenStreetMap tile servers when the map runs. The provider receives technical information, including the network address and tile requests. The accompanying text list works without JavaScript. Source links take you to websites with their own policies.

Community submissions and digest

New public event submissions are disabled. The API returns an unavailable response before starting a session or storing form fields. Previously submitted organiser emails, if any, remain in a private database outside the public web directory. They are not published or subscribed to a mailing list.

Digest subscriptions have not launched. No signup address is stored while delivery is disabled. A future launch needs a verified controller and contact, authorized sender, consent and unsubscribe tests, retention policy and processor information before collection begins.

Stories, recordings and editorial access

Public story and recording intake is not open. The story-drafting form keeps text only in the current page; downloading a draft saves a file on your device and sends nothing to the publisher. Quiz answers are temporary page state and are not submitted.

The private newsroom uses a secure, HttpOnly session cookie for sign-in and form protection, with a 30-minute idle limit. Login rate limits use a keyed hash of the network address; records older than 24 hours are removed during rate checks. Private draft, permission, reviewer and audit records are stored outside the public web directory.

Approved contributor media is streamed from private storage only while its record is published. Editors can withdraw a contribution, removing public page, listing and media access. Images are re-encoded to strip metadata. No fixed private-record retention period is claimed until the publisher confirms it.

Rights and complaints

Depending on the applicable law and circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct or erase personal information, restrict or object to processing, or withdraw consent where consent is used. A usable contact must be established before collection reopens. In the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office explains how to raise a data-protection complaint.

This notice does not claim that future legal bases, unconfigured services or international transfers have already been assessed.
